'Sexually Violent' Offender Convicted Of Possessing Child Porn Reports Move In Bay Shore

The New York State Division of Criminal Justice Services issued an alert this week to residents in Suffolk regarding the residency of 44-year-old Darren Stein, who has moved from an unknown residence to Manatuck Boulevard in Bay Shore.

The Division of Criminal Justice Services has assigned Stein as a Level 3 threat, which means he is a “high-risk repeat offender and a possible threat to public safety.” He has also been designated as a sexually violent sex offender.

According to the Division of Criminal Justice Services, Stein disseminating indecent materials to a minor and promoted or possessed child porn. He was arrested on May 1 and convicted of 12 counts of possessing materials of a sexual performance by a child under the age of 16. 

Officials noted that a computer was used in the process of committing the crime. Stein was sentenced to a term of two and four years in prison and is now under the jurisdiction of the Suffolk County Police SOR Unit.
